Who am I?
I’m Chris Whitworth, an experienced qualified (QTS) educator, curriculum designer, and specialist in Computing, Media, and Digital Education (Certified by META, BCS, and STEM Learning UK). With nearly 20 years in teaching and leadership, I have dedicated my career to making learning more engaging, accessible, and innovative.
I’ve worked across schools, academy trusts, and higher education, developing high-quality curricula, leading digital transformation, and mentoring educators. My passion lies in helping students achieve their potential and supporting schools in creating future-ready learning environments.
My Journey
I started my career as an ICT teacher, quickly developing a deep interest in Computer Science, Game Development, and Digital Media. Over the years, I’ve led Computing & Media departments, designed ambitious KS3 and KS4 curricula, and worked closely with schools to improve student outcomes.
As Director of Computing & Media at a multi-academy trust, I focused on:
✅ Developing and implementing digital strategies
✅ Leading whole-school CPD & mentoring teachers
✅ Driving AI integration and EdTech solutions
✅ Improving student engagement and attainment in Computing & Media
I have also contributed to higher education as an Associate Lecturer at Sheffield Hallam University, where I support student development and provide feedback on assessments.
What I do now
After years in school leadership, I’ve transitioned into education consultancy and tutoring, offering:
📌 Tutoring for Students – Specialist support in Computer Science, Media, and Game Development
📌 Consultancy for Schools & Academy Trusts – Curriculum design, teacher training, and digital learning strategies
📌 Team Leader for Pearson Edexcel Computer Science GCSE and SHU Associate Lecturer – Assessing Teach First students in Computing
Now based in the Highlands of Scotland, I work remotely to support students, educators, and institutions across the UK and beyond.
“I believe that great education is built on curiosity, innovation, and a strong foundation of knowledge. Whether I’m tutoring students in Computer Science and Media or working with schools to develop future-ready curricula, my goal is always the same; to make learning engaging, accessible, and impactful. With nearly 20 years in education, I take pride in helping students and educators unlock their full potential.”
